Seek the Father for What You Need

Posted by izonprize

 Sunday is Here, Friends!

Today I want to testify of the goodness of our Father.  I want to give Him the credit that He is deserves.

I want to impart to you, hope in the benefits of seeking the LORD, first, in times of need.

I could not sleep restfully through the night for many months without some type of sleeping help, and even with those, my sleep was not of good quality. I would wake up groggy and needing caffeine to make it through the day. Some nights, I wouldn’t sleep at all.

In April of this year, I began to realize what I had been doing to try to sleep, was never going to work and i was miserable.   So I literally gave up my own ideas about rest, and began to earnestly seek the LORD’s wisdom and answer.  It really was not long before He brought the answer to me! A picture is worth a thousand words!

I don’t recall having this deep quality of rested sleep since I was a teenager.  To actually get to REM SLEEP and dream again, is a powerful gift from God! I don’t always sleep 9-12 hours 😂 unless I really want to, but I can!

I am waking up alert and feeling so peaceful and ready for the day.  No caffeine needed! Thank God!

My word for today is “Seek the LORD for the things you need”.

Seek Him with all your heart.

Seek Him because you know He is good and He hears your prayers.

As you seek, remember all the good things He has done for you in the past.

Give Him praise for all the many ways He has rescued you and brought you through hard times.

Seek Him, in His Beauty, His wisdom and His direction.  Then watch and see what He reveals to you.

When He brings the answer, don’t be tempted to look away for another way.  God is not bi-polar; He is all-knowing and His ways are right and true.  He is steadfast and kind.  You can trust Him.

When He answers, step out in faith and do the hard thing.  It will be an Ebenezer Stone of Remembrance in your faith-walk with your Father.

His eye is on the sparrow and He is always watching you too.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Be aware of your thoughts

 SUNDAY IS HERE!

Good morning!

I’m up early this Sunday, praying for my friends and family, and reflecting on some important things.

Have you ever noticed what kinds of thoughts pull you down into worry or sadness? For me, the greatest enemy I’ve ever encountered is the spirit of Fear.

He’s a liar and a thief. He sneaks into our thoughts like a bandit, carrying a knapsack filled with destruction. He steals from us—our joy, our peace, our faith in the promises of God. And once he has our attention, he tries to give us things that only belong to him: lies about God, doubts about the future, shame about the past, condemnation over our choices, and tempting ideas for solving our problems without God.

But anything Fear offers only leads to regret and failure.

Don’t eat the fruit he hands you. Instead, take every fearful or discouraging thought and immediately turn it into a prayer. Bring it to your Father—the One who loves you most. Ask Him about the thoughts that are weighing you down. Then listen to what Truth has to say.

Believe God. Live free.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set you free.” (Galatians 5:1)

You no longer serve the enemy. His camp of despair is not your home.

Invite the Spirit of Christ Jesus to fill your heart and mind. He is your place of rest. He is your safety. He is your refuge.

Remember who you are—and Whose you are. Then cast that spirit of Fear far from you. And don’t let him leave with that knapsack!

Take back everything he’s tried to steal:

Take back your God-given joy.

Take back your God-given peace.

Have a blessed week believing the promises of God over your life!

SUNDAY IS HERE 6/1/2025

 SUNDAY IS HERE:

In honor of my mentors in Christ—women like Juanice Tomlinson, Gayle Shaw, Kay Arthur, and my dear husband Keith—I’m beginning a Sunday blog. This space will be informal, unfiltered, and straight from my heart to yours.

I don’t know exactly where God will lead me through these Sunday reflections. Some posts may be raw, but they will always be real.

So here we go:

Sunday #1

We Must Obey God Rather Than Men

Have you ever found yourself in a painful place simply because you chose to follow Jesus wholeheartedly? I believe someone needs a word of encouragement today. I can personally think of at least five distinct times when obeying the Lord meant disappointing people I cared about.

The first time, I was young in my faith. I allowed the voices of well-meaning believers to steer me away from what God had clearly instructed. The result? God graciously withdrew His hand from that situation, and I had to walk it out in my own strength. That experience left a deep impression on me. It broke my heart—not just because of the outcome, but because I knew I had grieved the heart of my Redeemer.

That day, I made a vow:

“No matter what, no matter who may be disappointed in me,

I will never knowingly disobey the clear instruction of the Lord again.”

By God’s grace, I’ve kept that promise. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been worth it. The joy of obedience has become its own reward.

There have been other moments—four more that come to mind—when obeying God cost me something.

 • I lost friendships.

 • I lost respect in certain circles.

 • I lost personal comfort.

Each time, the sacrifice felt heavy at first. Painful, even. But what felt like loss at the time turned into lasting gain in the long run. As I obeyed, God did what only He can do:

 • He grew my faith.

 • He steadied my heart.

 • He gave me peace.

 • He blessed my family.

 • He deepened my relationship with Him.

Even when others misjudged my motives, condemned my decisions, or spoke hurtful things behind my back—or to my face—I discovered something powerful: obeying God is always better than pleasing people.

Through it all, I’ve come to know the strength and nearness of the Lord like never before. He has been my constant friend, preparing a table of abundance in the very presence of those who doubted me. And in each new season, He’s given joy, peace, and blessings that only He could provide.

Jesus once said that while we are called to love all people, we must entrust our hearts only to Him. I’ve learned the wisdom of that. Even the kindest, most sincere people can unintentionally guide us based on their own limited understanding or fears. I’ve done the same to others.

But God’s perspective is different. His ways are higher. He sees the end from the beginning. While I often rely on what I can see—or what others see—He is the One who truly knows best. He’s taught me to rest in this truth:

“I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭AMP‬‬

So, if my obedience to God has ever caused disappointment or confusion, please know—it was never out of disregard for others. I’ve simply tried to follow where God is leading, even when I didn’t fully understand why. Again and again, He’s shown me the purpose after the obedience.

If you’re in a difficult place of choosing between following God’s voice or yielding to the expectations of others, I want to pray for you. Just comment “ME,” and I will lift you up in prayer this week.

May your Sunday be filled with peace and courage as you walk out your salvation—boldly, joyfully, and faithfully.

With love and grace,

Leeanna 💕
