Understanding Life

The parable of the Sower

Matthew 13:19
When anyone hears the message of the kingdom but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

This is important.  If we hear the Word but do not understand it, the evil one can snatch it out of a heart.  It is ineffective.  Just reading, hearing or memorizing the Scripture will not produce good fruit.  The blessing is in the understanding.  It is important to pray for the understanding.  And, that will only come by the Spirit of Jesus Christ.  It is so important to PRAY for the Spirit of Jesus to give us the UNDERSTANDING each time we read the Bible. To not ask Him for the understanding is to lean on our own understanding, which is a waste of time.  Spiritual things are spiritually discerned.  May the Lord open our minds to understand the Word today!
Blessings! Leeanna

Luke 24:45
Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Luke 5:20
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Luke 24:32
They asked one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"

Acts 16:14
Among those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.

1 John 5:20
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true--in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

ARISE MY DOVE; COME AWAY

Posted by izonprize

ARISE MY DOVE, my fair one...February 19, 2016 (Leeanna Porter).

Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come along, for behold winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers have already appeared in the land; the time has arrived for pruning the vines, and the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.  The fig tree has ripened its figs and the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance   Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come along....

Because my years before Christ were sprinkled with legalistic do's and don't's of the Kingdom, after I was born again, it was a very difficult transition to go from the mind of religious legalism to freedom in the truth of the mind of Christ.  My spirit was born again, but my mind still needed renewing!

My spirit became born again the moment I trusted Christ according to Ephesians 2:8-9. Specifically that I was saved by grace through faith and NOT as a result of my own works, but it was a FREE GIFT so that no one could boast (before God, but Christ).

Before Salvation, I had Ephesians 2:10, "You have been created for good works which God prepared (before you were born) that you should walk in them", pretty well ingrained into my soul.  Works were easy for me.  In fact, they always have been.  It's the resting in Christ part that was hard to remember.  Couple that with spiritual gifts of prophecy/pastor/teacher and VoilĂ ! I'm off to conquer kingdoms for Jesus!  Get with my program or get out of my way! God have mercy...

One of the things my flesh had learned to do very well was to self-condemn.  As easy as it was for me to expect others perfection, I expected it of myself on higher levels.  My sins - both "big" and "little", were like vomit to me: Horrid and shameful.  Even though I was born again, I had years of legalistic propaganda to unravel.

At my conversion to Christ, I was in awe of God who had chosen to save me in my sinful state and, the fact that I didn't have to work for it, was like butter on the toast-smooth and palatable.  It calmed my fears of judgment and I understood eternal life was not my own doing but his alone.

When I was about 25 years old and a relatively newborn babe in Christ, like everyone else, I still had a few sin habits to break.  Every time I committed a transgression, I would beat myself up for DAYS.  It was so grievous to me.  I would continually cry out to God for his forgiveness: "Please forgive me God, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! (My own self-condemnation left little room to hear God's voice of truth).

One of those mornings when I was crying out for mercy, I heard a sweet kind Voice whisper to my heart, "Come away my dove, my fair one..".
I wiped my tears and thought, "That sounds like a Scripture; was that GOD talking to me"?  So I grabbed my Bible and looked up the word "dove" in my Bible's concordance and this is what I found:

"O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret place of the steep pathway, Let me see your form, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your form is lovely. Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom" Song of Solomon 2:14-15.

For the first time, regarding God and my sin, I didn't feel condemned at all.  I felt His presence of peace and understanding love.  Although He was acknowledging I had sinned, He wasn't harsh at all.  In fact, He began our conversation with calling me His dove! THEN He encouraged me to catch those little foxes of sin for "us"!  Unity. Wow.  The Spirit walk in a body of humanity took on new meaning for me that day.  I was no longer alone when I sinned. It was no longer God in heaven disapproving of me for "being bad" and putting me "in a corner to think about it", but He was right there with me in the muck of it, gently assuring me of His commitment to walk alongside of me, as He instructed me in the way I should go.

My voice of prayer was sweet and acceptable to God.  Doves tend to hide in rocks yet just like Noah's dove, God called me back to Himself.  Christ is my solid rock of hiding.  To hide in Him is peace. To hide in my own "rock" is fruitless.

Faithfully consistent, He didn't leave me in that spot.  He came for me.  He heard my cries, and as my Great High Priest, He reminded me of His sacrifice and IT WAS ENOUGH.  Self-condemnation became nothing less than an attack on the finished work of Christ on my behalf.

Deep within all of us, Beloved in Christ, is an inner sanctuary, an altar unto the Lord.  A place where our prayers are heard and the incense of our groanings arise to the Father.  It is a place of Eternity in our hearts that calls us home to Christ no matter how far we may have roamed.  This tabernacle travels wherever we go.  Because of the eternal covenant of His grace, the temple can never be torn down again.  God will finish the good work He began in me.  I am confident of this.  According to Christ (Hebrews 9:26), I "put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself".  In His roll "up yonder" my sins: past, present and future, are all atoned for.  I may have been wallowing in my bed of self-condemnation that day, but His presence reminded me that Christ was already condemned in the flesh for my sin. God no longer sees me in grave clothes.  He sees me clothed in Christ; clean and white.
He sings over me with joy! He exults over me with singing! Zephaniah 3:17, The word  "exult" in Strong's is refined this way, "to spin around under the influence of a violent emotion"!
I am His "violent" joy and His very great reward, for enduring the humility of the cross.  I am His Pearl of Great Price.  When He sees me, He sees no flaw in me at all!

"How beautiful you are, my darling.  How beautiful you are! There is no blemish in you! Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come along. You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes. How delightful you are, my love, with all your charms!

Come away...

Love Never Fails,

EXPECTATIONS ARE PREMEDITATED RESENTMENTS

EXPECTATIONS ARE PREMEDITATED RESENTMENTS
Posted by izonprize

Why does God allow people to hurt us?  This could be one of the hardest questions in the life of a believer.  Our God, who is omnipotent, all-powerful; omnipresent, everywhere; omniscient, all-knowing; infinite and eternal, allows people to interrupt our comfort with their hurtful and less than loving words and behaviors.

The book of Job teaches us much about difficult relationships.   Job's friends, who began by sitting in silence and throwing dirt on themselves and mourning over Job's pain, end up being critical and judgmental mind-readers.  Because they couldn't understand what was happening to Job, they "assumed" Job must have committed some sin for these disasters to befall him!  They brought accusations against their friend because they didn't understand the reasons for the circumstances GOD was allowing in Job's life.

Have YOU ever been mis-judged by or falsely accused of sin by a friend?  God often allows bad things to befall His chosen ones.  Why? Only GOD knows. Job didn't know, at the time, why these horrific things were coming upon him. And neither did his friends.  But they tried to figure God out.  That was the first mistake...trying to figure God out!  Imagine that!  A man thinking He can know the mind of God.   God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than the heavens.

What was Job's response to the disasters that unexpectedly came upon him? "Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him" (Job 13:15). "The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised" (Job 1:21). Even Job's wife had something to pierce Job with: "Do you continue to stand by your integrity? Why don't you just curse God and die?!" (Job 2:9). Job probably expected that his wife and best friends would think the best of him because, that's what love does:  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres--it bears up under everything, believes the best in all, there is no limit to her hope, and never will she fall (1 Corinthians 13:7).

EXPECTATIONS ARE PREMEDITATED RESENTMENTS

Why do we have expectations of people?  We have these high hopes and misguided beliefs that people are basically good.  But the Bible disagrees.  All of us are tainted by sin and infected with failure.  "No one does good; no, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips.  Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.  Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.  There is no fear of God before their eyes."  Not one of us deserves anything but hell.  All of us, except by the grace of God, are deserving of the most horrific misery imaginable.  But for the love and grace of God.  Only Christ in us is our hope of glory.  There is nothing good that dwells in man except the spirit of Christ, if He indeed indwells that man.   So why do we have such high expectations of good from our fellow humans made from dust?  Job may have expected his friends to believe the best of him and surely he could have expected his wife, at the very least, to understand his pain. After all, wasn't she suffering too?  Why didn't she look to her own lack of perfection in her humanity to be the cause of these calamities?  Why did she blame Job and not herself?  Probably for the same reason we all judge anyone and everyone for anything and everything that happens to us.  So we don't have to look at ourselves.

Having expectations just sets us up for resentments.

Expectations...I expect my husband to be kind...all the time. And loving....all the time.  And generous and selfless...all the time. I expect him to know my thoughts and anticipate my desires.  I expect he knows why I am upset or where I would like to eat dinner.  I expect him to figure out my moods and know my favorite flower has always been purple tulips...without being told, of course.  I expect my husband to know I don't like sugar in my coffee, ever.  And should he need to be told my monotonous schedule, week after week, year after year, even though it never changes?  And I expect him to know I have always wanted to go to Israel and Ireland and when he makes travel plans that he would consider those desires.  I expect him to never have a bad day or to be abrupt with me, ever.   I expect him to be the spiritual head of our house and to initiate Bible reading and prayer.  I expect him to never be grumpy or short-tempered and I definitely expect him to love me as Christ loved the church.  And that is just my expectations of my husband!

What about my children? I expect them to respect me and to honor me.  I expect them to call me on Mother's Day and come see me on my birthday.  I expect them to come to my house for Christmas and want to be with me at family reunions.  And yes, I expect a phone call every so often.  And My grandchildren? I expect them to be happy to see me, always.  My friends and co-workers?  That's another long list.  I expect my best friends to really know me and understand my thoughts...from afar!   I expect them to read my moods and comfort me in my sorrows.  I expect them to think the best of me and to never gossip or talk bad about me...ever.  I expect them to have my back when others talk trash about me.  I expect my friends to check on me when I'm sick or in pain and to spend time with me when I desperately need someone to talk with.  I expect them to be interested in the things that interest me.  I expect them to love the things I love or at least show appreciation for what I love to do.

I even have expectations of places.  How about Kroger!?  I expect them to have all the ingredients I need for that cake I'm making, so I don't have to make another trip to HEB.  I expect that favorite restaurant to have a table available when I arrive and not keep me waiting.  I expect my dry cleaning to be done when they promised and that important thing I ordered from Amazon to arrive on time. I expect my mail carrier to ring my door bell to deliver my packages and not just throw them on the porch and hurry away.

I have even higher expectations of things.  Especially things under warranty that I paid extra for!  I expect my "super quiet" disposal I paid extra money for to still be super quiet 3 years from the day I bought it.  I expect the brand new connector on our ice machine to not break and flood our house in the middle of the night.  I expect the battery in my new car to last more than 6 months. I expect my computer and internet to work without fail, always.  I expect my cell phone to last a full two years.  At least.

That's enough.  I think you get the picture.  What about you?  What expectations do you have of people, places and things?  How do you respond when you are disappointed when things don't go as you expected?  Do you get angry? Sad? Disappointed? Grumpy? Withdrawn?  Do you become resentful? Unforgiving? Hold grudges? Do you shut down? Walk away...for good?  Do you treat them the way they treated you?  Revengeful?  Sarcastic?

Why do you have any expectations of perfection from imperfect people and a fallen world?  Put your hope in God.  God has demonstrated His own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Even though we were lost in sin and there was not one redeeming quality about our character, Christ chose to die for us.  Despite the evil bent of the human heart, God became a man and lived among us, taking on the form of a man in order to become our sacrifice.  He paid the penalty of our sin that was due us.  We deserved hell.  It was our great expectation...BUT GOD.  He sent His son so we could receive eternal life, which is Christ.  So, when bad things happen to us, let's remember we don't deserve anything good; we actually deserve hell, and our expectations can very well be a God-syndrome.  What we have been freely and undeservedly given, if we have placed our trust in Christ's finished work on the cross for our sins, is heaven.

Is that enough?  Is the cross enough?  What should be our great expectation?  That bad things do happen to us and at times it seems we don't deserve them.  But God allows them to come into our life because He has a higher plan than we can imagine. Instead of doubting the goodness of God who Created us unique and for His glory, let's "Trust in the LORD with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.  In all our ways, let's acknowledge Him and He WILL make our paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). After all, even Jesus knows the pain of betrayal, "You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above..." (John 19:11).  Joseph said, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, to accomplish what is being done, the saving of many lives" Genesis 50:20).  And look how humble and patient King David was when cursed by Shimei, instigated by Satan.  David considered the cursing as being allowed by God for his greater good and he quietly submitted to the ridicule, saying "What is it to me or to you if he reviles me? Because The Lord has said to him 'Curse David'. Who then shall say, 'Why have you done that?'" (2 Samuel 16:10). Perhaps Isaiah said it best when referring to how our Lord went to the cross for us at the hands of evil doers, "He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He opened not his mouth; like a Lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before his shearers, so He did not open His mouth" (Isaiah 53:7).  "When Jesus was accused, He answered nothing" (Matthew 27:12-14).  "When they hurled insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. INSTEAD, HE ENTRUSTED HIMSELF TO HIM WHO JUDGES JUSTLY" (1 Peter 2:23).

Nothing is more encouraging to one who suffers for the cause of Christ than to see Jesus at the right hand of the Father!  As they were stoning Stephen, unjustly, He prayed for his tormentors asking for their forgiveness.  In the end, he was not ashamed, for he saw His Savior in glory in the midst of his suffering and pain.  It was to Him who sits on the throne that he called out in his hour of death, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!'" (Acts 7:59).  And in the fiery furnace of affliction, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, firmly tied and thrown into the roaring flames, were vindicated, as King Nebuchadnezzar spotted a miracle: "Didn't we throw three men bound up and alive into the furnace?...Look! I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed!  And the fourth looks like a god!" (Daniel 3:24-25).  The King called the men out of the furnace and the fire had not harmed their bodies, not a hair of their heads had been singed, their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them. Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent His angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in Him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God....no other god can save in this way" (Daniel 3:26-29).

At the end of Job's troubles, he too was not ashamed.
Then Job replied to the LORD:
"I know that You can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.  You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?'  Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
"You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.'
My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen You. Therefore, I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes. (Job 42:1-5).

If Job could speak to us plainly, as he tries to in this passage, he would most likely say "Don't kick against God!  Lean into His marvelous ways!  Embrace His wisdom  and surrender to His decrees!  How much better for a man, such as I was, to be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into His Kingdom of Light.  To move from having a head knowledge to a heart experience.  To leave the law of cold religion for the warmth and life of His grace and truth.  To no longer just know about God from what was passed down to me by my fathers, but to actually hear His voice and have a conversation with the God of the Universe who chose to love me, in spite of my dusty frame.  Nothing compares to knowing Him.  It was all worth it". "What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ" (Philippians 3:8).

Lastly...What Expectations Should I have?

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.  May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy (Romans 15:1-9).

WILL THE REAL JESUS PLEASE STAND UP!

Don't be deceived: The Muslim Jesus is not the Christian Jesus.  The Islamic Jesus is not The Lamb Who was slain but the Christian Jesus is (John 1:29--behold, The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the World).  God is indeed sounding the alarm to be ready to stand firm.  We are definitely facing persecutions and trials in the years ahead.  Everyone in Christ will suffer hardships.  Paul warned us under the anointing of the Holy Spirit not to believe those who preach another (false) Jesus.

The Islamic Jesus was a created human and they believe he was not the Son of God nor the Lamb of God who was slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8) and Islam teaches that whoever believes this should be thrown into the fire according to the Koran, Maryam 19:34-38--The Christian Jesus was God in the flesh.  And the Word of God was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14); For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have Everlasting life (John 3:16).  (Read John chapter 1, Colossians 1:16-17).

Islam says salvation is found only in the 5 pillars of Islam--Jesus said, I Am The Way, The Truth, and The Life and NO ONE gets to The Father (or heaven) except Through Me; there is salvation in no other name BUT JESUS (Acts 4:12) "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth The Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9).

Islam teaches that Jesus was made to be Mohammed's slave.  However, Jesus made himself a servant voluntarily--Although He was in heaven in the form of God, He made Himself of no reputation and took upon Himself the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men and being found in the fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross" ( Philippians 2:6-8).

Islam teaches that Jesus was never crucified and therefore was never resurrected (Surah 4.157)--Christianity believes the Gospel accounts in the Bible of the Crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection on the third day just was was prophesied in the Old Testament and as spoken by Jesus Himself: "I am the resurrection and the Life: he that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live John 11:25.  And if Christ be not risen, then our preaching is vain and your faith is also vain. 1 Corinthians 15:4.

Islam believes Jesus cannot be worshipped--Christians believe the words "every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:11). And again, when He brings in the first Begotten into the world, He saith, and let all the angels of God worship Him (Jesus) Hebrews 1:6.   Read also what is written in the Revelation of Jesus Christ and how Jesus is worshipped as God.  The name of Jesus is far above all principalities and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come (Ephesians 1:21).  The Bible clearly says that Jesus was exalted to the right hand of God in heaven (Acts 2:32-36 quoting psalm 110:1; Mark 14:62, 16:19 and Hebrews 12:2).   See about the Throne in Revelation 3:21, and Revelation 4-5

Islam says when the Muslim "Jesus" returns he will have reddish hair and will be wearing two light yellow garments.  However, the Christian scriptures teach He is the Ancient of Days who is sitting on the throne now and wearing a garment white as snow and as white light and glistening and his hair is white as pure wool (Daniel 7:9, Matthew 17:2, Mark 9:3, Luke 9:29, Revelation 1-4).  Revelation 4:2-8 we see a throne in heaven and one sitting on the throne being worshipped as "Lord God Almighty, which was, is and is to come".  Compare this to Revelation 1:5-18 and see the wonderful similarity of the description of Jesus sitting on the throne "I Am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith The Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, The Almighty" (Revelation 1:8). In Revelation 1:11 Jesus clearly identified Himself as The Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.  Revelation 1:17-18, Jesus said, "I am the first and the last, I am He that liveth and was dead; and behold I am alive forevermore, amen, and I have the keys of hell and of death".  Since the same descriptive terms and titles apply to both the One who sits on the throne and to Jesus, it is apparent that Jesus is none other than the One on the throne as God.  Revelation 20:11-12 shows the one on the throne is the Judge.  And we know from John 5:22-27, Romans 2:16, 14:10-11, that Jesus is the Judge of all.  Revelation 22:3-4 says the throne in heaven is the throne of God AND of The Lamb (See also Matthew 19:28).

Islam believes God sent Mohammed, but Christians believe God sent the Holy Spirit of promise (John 15:26, John 16:7, Acts 1:5). John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, if anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and WE will come to him and make AN ABODE with him. The entire chapter of John 14 shows God in His divine Trinity making ONE abode with the Believing man.  Vs 17 says even the Spirit of reality Whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him, but you know Him, because He abides in you and SHALL BE IN YOU.   Praise The Lord for such Scriptures in the Bible that strengthen the truth of the Oneness of the Triune God.

My prayer is that all who are deceived by the Muslim religion will be called by God to salvation, that God will grant them faith to believe the truth and reject the lies, that God will open up deaf ears and restore sight to blind eyes, that God will take out their hardened hearts and give to them hearts of flesh, that He will write His words of truth upon their hearts and send a preacher of the Good News and that they will hear, believe and receive The Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, as they Believe on the one true Jesus as revealed in the Holy Scriptures and be saved, receiving Eternal Life in Christ Jesus The Lord.

Let My Words Be Few

LORD LET MY WORDS BE FEW

A servant of the Lord must not argue (be quarrelsome, wrangle with words). Instead, he must be kind to everyone, teachable, willing to suffer wrong, 2 Timothy 2:24
But a Servant of our Lord ought not to fight, but to be humble toward every person, instructive and long-suffering,(Aramaic Bible)

The wise fear the LORD (cautious) and shun (turn from, depart from) evil, but a fool is hotheaded (raging, easily angered, throws off restraint, reckless, arrogant, careless, overconfident, recklessly confident, insolent, overbearing, transgressing) and yet feels secure (confident).Proverbs 14:16

Gill's Commentary:
but the fool rageth, and is confident; he fears neither God nor men, he sets his mouth against both; he "rages" in heart, if not with his mouth, against God and his law, which forbid the practice of such sins he delights in; and against all good men, that admonish him of them, rebuke him for them, or dissuade him from them: and "is confident" that no evil shall befall him; he has no concern about a future state, and is fearless of hell and damnation, though just upon the precipice of ruin; yet, as the words may be rendered, "he goes on confidently", nothing can stop him; he pushes on, regardless of the laws of God or men, of the advices and counsels of his friends, or of what will be the issue of his desperate courses in another world.

Temptation Rides Again

Posted by izonprize

My flesh was crying out for quick relief from hunger at 9pm last night.  As I was driving home from a hospital visit, I was hungry and tempted to grab fast food on the way home, instead of waiting to eat nutritionally from my own refrigerator.  So, after several minutes of idea after idea being presented to me to pull over, here or there, for junk food, by the grace of our living Lord, instead, I tuned into our Christian talk radio station!  Hallelujah! God provided my way of escape.  There was a pastor speaking on temptation!  He read from Webster's, the definition of temptation which I am including here:  Temptation is the desire to perform an action that one may enjoy immediately or in the short term, but will probably later regret for various reasons; including feeling guilt and health-related consequences.  Temptation is the inclination to sin.  Temptation also describes the coaxing or inducing a person into committing such an act, by manipulation or otherwise of curiosity, desire or fear of loss.

This was the wisdom I needed to hear that snapped me out of the flesh and back into the Spirit of Christ who wants to live His life through me!  I had the needed grace to make it home and eat something healthy from my storehouse.  I pray we can all be delivered moment by moment from the temptation to meet our own needs with our own knowledge of good and evil.  I have no such knowledge.  God is right,  apart from Christ I can do nothing good!

Galatians 2:20 for I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me, and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loves me and who gave His life for me!

ARE YOU UNDER A CURSE OR GRACE?

Posted by izonprize

Recently someone sent me this Scripture from Exodus and was wondering if we, Christians, are still under a curse of sickness, according to this Old Testament verse:

So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them, and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you."

It quickly reminded me of these Scriptures:

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the set time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman,
Born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree".

Colossians 2:14-15 He cancelled our debt, moved it out of the way, nailed it to the cross (tree), disarmed the rulers and authorities, made a public display of them, and triumphed over them through Him.

John 19:30 It is finished!

Romans 8:1 There is therefore, now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, has set us free from the law of sin and death.

Praise God, Jesus became our substitute on the cross and literally fulfilled the requirement of the law for you and me.  When Christ died to the law, so did we.  (Gal 2:19-20, Colossians 2:20, Colossians 3:3, 2 Timothy 2:11).  Someone once asked me if they don't give a tithe according to Malachi, are they under a curse?  Since Christ fulfilled the law and we have received his gift of grace, with all the benefits of salvation, including the release from the curse of sin and death, we are no longer under law but grace (see Romans 1-8).  This does not mean the law was bad or that we should teach people to break the law! On the contrary, the new law of the spirit goes much farther than the law of Moses in doing right!  According to the New Covenant, we are not required to live up to a set law on giving a certain tithe, but we are to give according to our ability (2 Corinthians 8:12-14) and to give generously from the heart! It appeared the New Covenant believers gave over and above the 10% requirement of the law and instead, gave liberally from a heart of love and with thanksgiving.  The law has boundaries.  Love knows no boundaries.

Oh how grateful I am that Christ has redeemed me from the law and nailed all my sins to the tree.  He has cast those sins, past, present, and future, into the sea of forgetfulness and He remembers them no more!  For that I live grateful and mindful.

Because Christ hung on the tree, He took my infirmities, and He bore my sicknesses (Matthew 8:16-17)!  Mark 16:17-18 says, "They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover"!  I am so glad for those in the Body who have the "gifts of healing" (1 Corinthians 12:9),
And that the sick can call on the elders of the church to anoint them with oil, and pray the prayer of faith over them, and they will be healed!

This is the commandment or the work of service the Father asks of us:  (John 6:29) that we believe in the One Whom He has sent (that we cleave to, trust in, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger--His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ). Now it is for us to walk in the Truth we have been given and live an obedient life of freedom in Christ. Praise God for His indescribable Gift--His Son, Christ Jesus our LORD!
